Is Prophecy Being Fulfilled Now #4
Do you find prophecy confusing? Scary? I find that many believers avoid studying prophecy because they don’t understand it. So many prophetic schemes are taught and none of them really make sense. I find it best to just read the Bible and take the prophetic verses at face value.
There is one passage with which many believers are familiar and it holds much prophetic value, yet I have never heard anyone mention the prophecy contained in it. Jeremiah 31:15-16 indicates a prophecy concerning Rachel’s tomb.
#4 Rachel’s Tomb will be Rebuilt
Yes, the tomb of Rachel the matriarch of Israel will be discovered in the end times. It will be rebuilt and used as a catalyst to draw all of God’s people together. The 31stchapter of Jeremiah addresses the future of God’s people. God says that the nation of Israel will be rebuilt and the Messiah will return. One of the events that Jeremiah said would happen in that process is known as the slaughter of the innocents. Most Christians are familiar with the prophecy of verse 15. It is mentioned in the narrative of Christ’s birth in Matthew 2:18.
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem Ephrata, Herod killed all the baby boys there two years of age and under. When the Wise Men told Herod that the Messiah had been born in Bethlehem, Herod decreed that the baby boys there be slaughtered in attempt to kill the Messiah. An angel told Joseph to flee to Egypt with Mary and the baby Jesus for safety.
The prophecy says, “A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children because they were not.” The obvious question is what does Rachel have to do with the slaughter of the innocents after Christ’s birth? Rachel was buried in Bethlehem Ephrata. The slaughter of the innocents happened in Bethlehem Ephrata. The location of Rachel’s tomb is where the slaughter of the innocents happened. Rachel’s tomb identifies the place where the prophecy was fulfilled.
The prophecy continues in verse 16 of Jeremiah 31. God tells Rachel, “Refrain they voice from weeping and your eyes from tears: for your work shall be rewarded and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.” This prophecy states that God’s children will be unified again in the land of Israel. Again I ask the same question as before: What does Rachel have to do with the unification of God’s people? If we take the Bible literally then the answer has tobe the same as it was in verse 15. Rachel’s tomb identifies the place that will bring God’s children together. Bethlehem Ephrata will literally be used as a catalyst to unify all of God’s people.
Bethlehem Ephrata is where the love story of Ruth and Boaz took place. It is where David was born and raised. It is where the matriarch of Israel was buried. It is certainlyone of the Holiest sites to Jews. Bethlehem Ephrata is also the place where Jesus was born. It is one of the holiest places to Christians.
Bethlehem Ephrata has the ability to bring Christians and Jews together. Romans 11 says that Gentile believers are grafted in to Israel. Christians and Jews are one. In the end times Rachel’s tomb and the city of Bethlehem Ephrata will be discovered. The publication of it will unify God’s people in support of Israel. Christians and Jews will realize they are one and worship God together.
