How Can We Prepare for the Messiah’s Coming?
Part 3
What should Christians be doing to prepare for the Messiah’s soon return?
In considering all that we have learned from our translation of the inscriptions from the Early Church and in interpreting prophecy I see three main areas we can contribute to God’s work.
I. Christians should support the land of Israel
II. Christians should unite with Jewish believers
III. Christians need to support the rebuilding of the Temple
According to the prophecies of the Bible the Temple will be rebuilt and Temple worship will be re-instated. This will be done by those who believe Jesus is the Messiah. I realize most Christians do not want any part of rebuilding the Temple but I have learned that the Early Church lived to see the Temple rebuilt and the Messiah return to take His seat on His throne in the Temple.
What can we do today to support the rebuilding of the Temple? As I understand the injunction and promise of Malachi 3:10, we need to be giving to the Temple. When we do God will bless us so much that we cannot contain it. As far as I know there is no fund set up for the support of the rebuilding of the Temple. We can start a fund that will ensure every penny that is given will go directly to the rebuilding of the Temple. I can see believers spontaneously coming together and raising financial support for the Temple that is coming.
We can call our senators and representatives voicing our support of moving the American embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem. What does that have to do with rebuilding the Temple? Israel has the legal right and the physical ability to rebuild the Temple on the Temple Mount today. So why don’t they? Israel needs world support in order to make this move. If Israel rebuilt the Temple today the whole world would come against them. This would defeat the purpose of the Temple. The purpose of Temple is not to cause war but to unite God’s people in worship. When the world will accept the rebuilding of the Temple on the Temple Mount, then it will happen. We know from the Bible that the Mosque of the Dome of the Rock will stand on the Temple platform and there will be large wall built between the two.
If the Christians in this world would unite in approving the rebuilding of the Temple Israel would have enough support to rebuild the Temple. Currently most of the church is against Israel and against the rebuilding of the Temple. We need to realize that the Messiah will not come back until the Temple is rebuilt. We need to see it is our responsibility to rebuild the Temple.
What does moving the Embassy to Jerusalem have to do with rebuilding the Temple? Moving the Embassy to Jerusalem is recognition that Jerusalem does belong to Israel. The Jews have the right to Jerusalem. The Jews are not asking to remove all Palestinians from Jerusalem. They are not asking to remove the presence of Islam in Jerusalem. They are asking to have their right to be thererecognized. They are willing to share.
We need to pray for the rebuilding of the Temple. We need to pray that God moves in the hearts of His people to support the new Temple. We need to pray for wisdom and strength for those leaders who are leading in this move.
We need to study to understand the Temple worship system. Christians tend to ignore anything that has to do with the Temple. We say that is for the Jews and is not relevant to us. We could not be more wrong. All the elements of Temple worship are object lessons teaching us about the Messiah. This is why the rebuilding of the Temple should be so important to Christians. When it is rebuilt we must proclaim to the world Jesus Christ is the Messiah! He fulfills all the pictures of the elements of the Temple. The Temple in Jerusalem will be used in the end-times as a teaching tool to lead the greatest evangelistic effort in history. There will be a countless number of people come to accept Jesus as the Messiah in the seven year tribulation (Revelation 7:9-14).
Our view of the Christian’s passive involvement in the end-times events needs to be corrected. It is not Biblical. We have an opportunity to prepare for the return of the Messiah. We are living in the times that God’s children have desired to see for thousands of years. We need to be actively involved!
