How Can We Prepare for the Messiah’s Coming?
One of my dear friends asked me what we should be doing in light of the prophecies that are being fulfilled and the soon return of the Messiah. I had to stop and think. I research and write on what the Early Church believed and their source of power but I lack in practical steps we should be taking today to prepare for the Messiah’s coming.
What should we Christians be doing to prepare for the Messiah’s soon return?
In considering all that we have learned from our translation of the inscriptions from the Early Church and in interpreting prophecy I see three main areas we can contribute to God’s work.
I. Christians should support the land of Israel
We should pray for the peace of Jerusalem. God instructs us to. (Psalm 122:6). Those pioneering Jews who occupy the land of Israel today fight a daily battle to occupy the land God has promised to His people. They make incredible sacrifices to live in the land and be a productive part of the modern state of Israel. They face much opposition from Christians, the Catholic Church, Palestinians, and the Muslim world. These brave Israelis need peace!
We should be voting for pro-Israeli leaders. We need leaders who will support Israel. God’s Word never fails. God promised to bless those who bless Israel and curse those who curse Israel (Genesis 12:3). America has been blessed because of our support of Israel. Our lack of support for Israel the past eight years concerns me greatly! I am thankful for new leaders who support Israel.
We need to contact our leaders and encourage them to support legislation that helps Israel. Call yourrepresentative and senators and encourage them to support Israel. Contact the President and Vice-President and let them know you stand with them in their support of Israel.
If possible, you need to visit the land of Israel. The land of Israel is a special place. It is our heritage too if we are believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. My Bible says that if we are followers of Christ we are Abraham’s seed and heirs of the Abrahamic covenant (Galatians 3:28-29). The land of Israel is our inheritance that has been promised to us by God! Every believer needs to see and touch it! There are several groups that lead good tours to Israel. Connect with a group that will take you to more places in Israel than just the “tourist traps.” Contact me and I can connect you to these groups.
I will continue writing about these three steps in the next article.
